I'd like to start with a question....
How can 2013 be a better year than 2012?
I'd guess we all have our favourite moments from 2012 but for me the highlight was Scarborough Borough Council taking the reins to Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
I for one was disgusted by the way Apollo Leisure seemed to not care for the people of Scarborough and music lovers across the UK and further afield by not securing one act for us!
When Olly Murs, Dionne Warwick and JLS were announced in the summer line-up I was excited. Not for the music but the fact that the Open Air Theatre would once again see crowds of thousands. For me this is a magical place where my parents and grandparents would take me as a child to see various evening shows, often in pitch black. The whole theatre seemed to come alive, and alive it was as most of the scenery was living. With the trees, the lake and the natural sound that echoed due to the shape of the land. What an amazing experience it must have been to perform in such a natural environment.
But, now the area has been revamped and seen some huge names in music and comedy perform there, has it lost any of it's charm? No!
Scarborough has a venue that is crying out for more stars to grace its stage and what better start to 2013 than announcing a line up including Status Quo, Leona Lewis and McFly! I cannot wait to hear what other acts Scarborough Borough Council can bring us this year.
I just hope the weather will be a lot, lot, better than last year!
