What An Eyesore
Does anybody know who this caravan belongs to or is it just another eyesore we will have to put up for longer than we should.

Foursquare Day in Scarborough 16/4/13
I think it would be a great idea for a little insight as to what Foursquare is.
Foursquare is a social application that allows it's users to check-in to places using their mobile phones via the Foursquare App (links to the app are below). Having started a few years back Foursquare has millions of users across the globe who check-in to millions of venues every day. Now, the interesting part is that users are rewarded for check-ins by accumulating points and badges. Users can even get awarded the title of mayor if they check-in so many times. Some would see this as being pointless but Foursquare is a great way for users to share tips about venues which in turn creates a very comprehensive guide for users visiting places they have never been to before.
Foursquare not only benefits consumers but businesses also as they can see who is visiting them and some can even offer incentives such as discounts for their most loyal customers. A lot of businesses in Scarborough are already on Foursquare but I feel a lot more need to get up to speed with how to utilise it for their business. If you own a business do you know who the mayor of your venue is?
Foursquare uses GPS on your phone to locate where you are and automatically recommends places nearby which may be of interest. You can also search for a type of venue like a restaurant or cinema. You can then read peoples tips to help choose the best one for you.
Foursquare also allows businesses to create pages just like on Facebook. An ideal way to promote your business and reward your customers.
Now, what is Foursquare Day?
Foursquare day was started by Foursquare users in 2010 and was decided that 4 squared was 16 so 16 April was decided as the date to celebrate all things Foursquare. Hundreds of events get planned around the world on Foursquare Day and this year will be no different.
Foursquare does recognise these events and can provide banners etc to help publicise events planned. Some Foursquare users even get Foursquare day proclaimed officially as Foursquare day by the city/town Mayor.
Do you have anything planned for Foursquare Day 16/4/13?
Do you want to get the Foursquare app for your phone?

Parking Problems in Scarborough
Having read the recent story in The Scarborough News about attacks on traffic wardens increasing over the last few years I would like to add a little more to the story.
The civil enforcement officers (traffic wardens) patrolling the streets around Scarborough quite often overlook certain traffic violations because of who cars belong to. Recently I was stood at the junction of Queen Street and Newborough and witnessed 3 civil enforcement officers walk past a car that was parked on double yellow lines which is also a no loading/waiting area. I was stood there for around fifteen minutes before the owner came out of a shop and casually drove off.
Now this would seem the car must have been known to the civil enforcement officers and was overlooked because the owner was a well known figure in Scarborough. Now if I had parked my car in the same spot would any of those civil enforcement officers walked past without giving me a ticket? I think not... Now to some this may seem to be a trivial issue but while I don't agree with people being assaulted for doing their job I do agree that civil enforcement officers in Scarborough do need to take a zero tolerance approach to handing out tickets. I can also understand why people would get angry at getting tickets where others get away with parking wherever they want and get away with it.
And to say most of the road markings in Scarborough are not in strict compliance with TSRGD, Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, is a whole other story I think The Scarborough News should investigate.

Bjorn Clogs Ltd Scarborough
I have always been a big lover of old sayings, with one of my favourites being: 'you learn something new every day'.
Now sometimes this happens but sadly most days I don't think I learn anything new. However on my frequent walks around the town I always come across something new, today being one of those days.
I have always admired the shopfront of Bjorn Clogs on Queen Street but little did I know that behind the shopfront is not only a very welcoming shoe shop with extremely friendly staff but also a whole business built around the manufacture of traditional Swedish clogs.
For more than 30 years this shop has been manufacturing traditional Swedish clogs.
A quick look at Bjorn Clogs website is enough to make me want to buy a pair for myself, but which ones to choose would be the greatest challenge. The whole range looks very impressive with options for plenty of different colours all lovingly created on site at Bjorn Clogs in Scarborough.
Even if clogs aren't your thing then the huge range of footwear on display in the shop will no doubt satisfy most peoples tastes.
It's shops like these that are a great asset to Scarborough, shops that are are proud to be unique and resilient enough to stand up to the current economic climate.

For our range of clogs we use only the best quality materials, lightweight natural wood and grade A leather. The wooden soles are shaped to improve your posture and the leather is firm and hard wearing, but soft enough to provide comfort.
Be first on the clog trend as seen at Louis Vuitton and Chanel. We love these from a cute little shop in Scarborough, Bjorn Clogs. It's a family business and they have their leather, staples and staple gun all imported from Sweden, then make them in their shop basement. You can buy them online at www.bjornclogs.co.uk
